Miners block international highway Lviv-Rava-Ruska

Miners of Lvivvuhillia, the state-owned Lviv Coal Company, blocked the international highway Lviv-Rava-Ruska in the village of Smerekiv to protest against delays in wage arrears.

Assistant to MP Musiy, Oleh Stelmakh, wrote this on Facebook.

“A crosswalk in Smerekiv. The blockage of the road by miners has begun,” Stelmakh commented on event photos.

Earlier, the Novyny Prybuzhzhia newspaper reported that miners of Lvivvuhillia planned to picket Lviv offices of DTEK, the Ukrainian largest privately-owned energy company, on August 5.

“This company owes UAH 115 million to the miners of Halychyna region for the shipped coal to Dobrotvirska and Burshtynska thermal power plants,” reads a report.
