President Poroshenko, ALDE delegation members discuss de-occupation of Crimea

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has met with the delegation of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), headed by Hans Van Baalen and Petras Austrevicius.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian President stressed the importance of co-ordination of actions on the de-occupation of Crimea.

This is reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.

"The Head of State informed the MEPs of the situation in Donbas. Poroshenko stressed that Russia and Russian-backed militants do not comply with the defence provisions of the Minsk agreements, which makes it impossible to move to the political process. He also noted the need to coordinate actions on the de-occupation of Crimea and the termination of human rights abuses on the peninsula," the statement reads.

"Currently, my country is going through one of the most difficult periods in its history, but we believe that together we can stop the aggressor and liberate the Ukrainian territory, carry out the reforms and implement the Association Agreement," Poroshenko said.

The members of the European Parliament assured of their readiness to speed up making decision on EU’s introduction of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens this autumn.
