UCC calls on international community to designate Russia a state sponsor of terrorism

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) calls on the international community to recognize the Russian Federation a state sponsor of terrorism.

The UCC said this in a statement dedicated to the two-year anniversary of the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH-17 by Russian terrorists over Ukraine.

“The UCC calls on Canada and its allies to declare the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk “Peoples’ Republics” terrorist organizations and designate the Russian Federation a state sponsor of terrorism,” reads the statement.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) in the statement also called on the international community “to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice”.

In addition, the Ukrainian Canadians recalled that this is Russia that is responsible for this terror act, and that’s why this state tries to obstruct the process of investigation: “The leadership of the Russian Federation bears direct responsibility for this horrible act of international terrorism. In an attempt to hide its responsibility, the Russian Federation used its veto at the United Nations Security Council to block the establishment of an International Tribunal to investigate the MH-17 terrorist act,” reads the statement.
