France confirms it does not recognize annexation of Crimea

The French Foreign Ministry has once again confirmed that Paris does not recognize annexation of Ukrainian Crimea by Russia.

This was announced by Spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry Romain Nadal.

At a press conference in Paris, the Foreign Ministry spokesman, when asked about the media reports on intentions of some French parliamentarians to visit Russia and the occupied Crimea, said: "The position of France is clear and unalterable: Like the European Union and the entire international community, France does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea."

At the same time, as says the statement released on the Foreign Ministry website, Romain Nadal stressed that any initiatives to divert from this position were undesirable.
