EU not yet makes decision on visa-free regime for Ukraine

The European Union is slowing down the process on abolition of visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens, in spite of the positive recommendation of the European Commission.

An Ukrinform correspondent reported about such results of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting, which ended in Luxembourg on Friday.

"We also talked about visa liberalization today. We can see the progress of all the proposals, including Turkey [now we are talking about Georgia and Ukraine] but we have not yet made a decision. Some member states express concern at the moment. But we will continue to address these concerns within the framework of the visa liberalization process in these countries," State Secretary of Security and Justice of the Netherlands Klaas Dijkhoff said.

Despite the fact that Ukraine has met all the requirements for the granting of visa-free regime with the Schengen area, Europe is not ready to make an appropriate decision.
