Only 940 officials in Ukraine dismissed in line with law on lustration

Over the last six months, 940 out of 5,000 state officials have been removed from their posts in line with the law on lustration.

Head of the lustration department of Ukraine’s Justice Ministry Tetiana Kozachenko said on Hromadske TV.

“The law on lustration is the temporary removal from posts of a limited number of persons. Lustration is not what people conceive. This is not general justice and not the detention of everybody… Not more than 5,000 out of 300,000 come under lustration,” she said.

A reminder that in September, 2015, Kozachenko reported that around 700 officials had been dismissed in line with the law on lustration in Ukraine.
