European Parliament sees no reasons for lifting sanctions against Russia

The European Parliament sees no reasons to ease economic sanctions against Russia, as the country has failed to fulfill certain requirements for this.

Chairman of the European Parliament's Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee Andrej Plenkovic said this following a two-day sitting of the committee in Brussels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We’ve clearly stated about our views that the requirements of any easing of restrictive measures against Russia have not been fulfilled,” the MEP said.

He noted that participants in the sitting again expressed the support of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“The implementation of the Minsk agreements should provide peaceful reintegration of temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as the return of illegally annexed Crimea,” the politician said.
