PM Groysman: State authorities cannot be used against oligarchs

Influence and power cannot be used to put pressure on the oligarchs, but they, in turn, should carry out their business whilst not trying to influence state authorities.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said this in an interview with 24 TV Channel on Wednesday night, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I believe that state authorities cannot be used against any of them [the oligarchs] by order," Groysman said.

The oligarchs, the Prime Minister added, should create jobs for people and carry out their business while not trying to influence state authorities.

Groysman assured that no Ukrainian tycoon could exert pressure or influence on him personally.

"I guarantee you that the oligarchs have no personal influence on me, and I will not conduct any talks if they are contrary to the public interest," the Premier noted.

Groysman added he believed that the oligarchs should be engaged in their own business and have the same rights as other citizens of Ukraine.
