G7 opposes lifting sanctions from Russia

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France Jean-Marc Ayrault believes there are no grounds for discussing the issue of lifting sanctions from Russia in the European Union as the implementation of the Minsk Agreements is being blocked.

French Foreign Minister said this, summing up the results of the G7 ministerial meeting in an interview with AFP.

"Of course, we discussed the issue of the EU sanctions against Russia. The issue of sanctions should be studied after the progress in implementation of the Minsk Agreements. There are no grounds to say now that the sanctions should be lifted, if we see no progress," the Minister said.
