Rally in support of EU-Ukraine association held in Amsterdam

In the central square of Amsterdam, Dam square, the rally called ‘Maidam’ has been held in support of an EU-Ukraine association agreement at a referendum that is to be held in the Netherlands on April 6.

The organizer of the event is the Dutch Stem Voor movement, which holds a campaign to ‘vote in favor’ of the agreement.

The name of the event ‘Maidam’ is a combination of names of the Dutch Dam Square and the Ukrainian Maidan square.

Participants in the event were also Dutch Defense Minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders, Chairman of Dutch employers' federation VNO-NCW Hans de Boer, leaders of political parties, Dutch and Ukrainian activists. They called on people to support of the EU-Ukraine association agreement at the referendum.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin was a quest of the event.
