Poroshenko calls on the West to support ‘Savchenko-Sentsov’ list

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko urged the US and European partners to join the Ukraine’s initiative for the introduction of the "Savchenko-Sentsov" sanctions list.

Poroshenko said this while delivering the speech at the forum "Ukraine’s Battle for Freedom Continues" in Washington on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have approved the sanctions list against individuals who had partaken in the farce trials against Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia. So called “Savchenko-Sentsov” list. Very similar to the Magnitsky List. We expect that our US and European partners join this initiative," the President said

According to him, at least 11 Ukrainian citizens have become political prisoners in Russia, including Nadiya Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov and Oleksandr Kolchenko.

"Some of them, including Nadiya Savchenko, are in a critical health condition. But this factor has no meaning for Moscow which still does not allow Ukrainian doctors to visit Nadiya for an independent inspection, despite promises of Russian Foreign Minister Mr. Lavrov," Poroshenko stressed.
