Herashchenko says about attempt to influence Trilateral Group composition

The ban from entering Russia’s territory, which was issued to MP Iryna Heraschenko, a PACE member and Ukraine’s presidential envoy for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas, could be an attempt to influence the composition of the Trilateral Contact Group.

Herashchenko said this at a briefing at the Presidential Administration, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In this case we are not speaking about the policy of Iryna Herashchenko, or MP Iryna Herashchenko, or a PACE member, we are speaking about Ukraine’s representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, as well as presidential envoy for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the East. And the actions by the unfriendly Russian Federation in relation to Ukraine’s representative in the humanitarian subgroup, I personally consider as an attempt to influence not only the fulfilment of my direct obligations, but the key point here is also the fight for the release of our captives, including those who are kept as political captives in Russia. And this also is the attempt to influence, maybe, the composition of the group,” she said.

Heraschenko stressed that the Ukrainian side considers this as direct violation of clause 12 of the Minsk Agreements signed in 2014, where it is stated about personal safety guarantees for participants in the consultations.
