Petition to free Savchenko already signed by more than 2,000 famous people

More than 2,000 famous people, including public and cultural figures, scientists and other representatives of the intellectual elite, have signed a petition demanding the Russian government to immediately release Nadia Savchenko, a Ukrainian citizen, kidnapped and imprisoned in the Russian Federation.

The corresponding document is available on the website of «IPetitions», it is open for all people who are not indifferent to the fate of the Ukrainian pilot.

"We appeal to you to take emergency measures with the goal of the immediate and unconditional release of 34-year-old Nadia Savchenko, a Ukrainian citizen, kidnapped and imprisoned for more than twenty months in the Russian Federation," reads the letter, which is addressed to the European leaders.

The document recalls that on March 4, in protest against the proceedings of the Russian court, Nadia Savchenko announced a full hunger strike, refusing even liquids.

The letter has been initiated by Ola Hnatiuk, a Ukrainian/Polish intellectual, historian and writer.
