Visegrad Group and Ukraine discuss issues of energy security

Representatives of the Visegrad Group and Ukraine at a meeting in Lviv considered the issues of energy security of Ukraine and its independence from Russian energy resources.

The roundtable meeting was held at the Lviv Polytechnic National University on Thursday, February 25, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The international dialogue on energy efficiency was established in 2014. And it is extremely important as it is still underway. Because now this issue is especially vital,” Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Olena Zerkal said.

As an example, the experience of Slovakia was put for discussion of deputy foreign ministers, as in this country the projects on thermal insulations of buildings, the heat supply, street lighting and energy management are being efficiently implemented.

In addition, according to Zerkal, the officials also discussed the current issues of sanctions against Russia, granting Ukraine a visa-free regime with the EU, the implementation of the Minsk agreements, and the political situation on the whole. The next meeting in such a format is planned to be held in Vinnytsia on April 12, and it will be dedicated to the issue of support and development of small business.
