Law on e-declarations should be brought in line with international standards – Tombinski

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Jan Tombinski has welcomed the adoption of the "visa-free package" by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, but stressed that the law on electronic declarations should be brought into line with international standards.

The statement was posted on the EU Delegation page on Facebook.

"I welcome the adoption in the second reading of the legislation on asset recovery and management office (4056), on assets seizure and special confiscation (4054) and on prosecution (4055). We very much acknowledge the hard work of all those who contributed to this result," Tombinski noted.

However, he stressed that "the completion of these efforts would require that the Law on e-declarations (3755) is brought in line with international standards in order to ensure an effective and comprehensive system of verification of asset declarations."

"The nomination of the remaining members of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption should be finalized with no further delay in order to make the Agency fully operational in the first quarter 2016," Tombinski added.
