Dekanoidze: 80% of Kyiv police leadership fired after recertification

A total of 13,015 police officers in Kyiv and Kyiv region have completed recertification, Chief of Ukraine’s National Police Khatia Dekanoidze has said.

“As a result of police recertification in Kyiv, 80% of senior management and 70% of middle management have been dismissed. In theregion, these figures total 60% and 40% respectively. Among all those who have underwent through recertification, along with the ranks, 13% of police officers have lost their jobs in Kyiv and 19% in Kyiv region,” she told during a TV program on Sunday evening.

Dekanoidze also said about problems existing in the Ukrainian police. But at the same time according to her, the police forces are being improved by adopting the best international experience.

The National Police chief announced that a nationwide call center would be launched on February 15. She also added that by June 2016 in 29 Ukrainian cities there would be renewed patrols, while rapid response teams would operate in small towns.
