U.S. interested in decentralization in Ternopil region
Experts from the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) are interested in the process of decentralization in Ternopil region, Ternopil Regional State Administration Chairman Stepan Barna has said.
“We have met with representatives of this public organization and Director of the International Republican Institute in Ukraine Brian Mefford. We have informed that 26 united territorial communities have been created. We have told that our region in the process of decentralization is one of the basic in Ukraine,” Barna told an Ukrinform correspondent.
According to him, due to the reform of decentralization local communities will receive significant funds to improve region’s infrastructure.
Mefford, in turn, said that the U.S. government launched a new program dedicated to the decentralization in Ukraine.
“We have come to Ukraine to evaluate the success of decentralization process, in particular, in Ternopil region. We are planning to discuss a range of current issues that the newly elected chairmen of united communities are facing, as well as possible ways to solve them,” Mefford said.
