Taran: Gryzlov’s arrivial in Ukraine attempt to appear as ‘dove of peace’ }

Boris Gryzlov, Russia’s representative in the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbas, has arrived in Kyiv because of US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Ukrainian political scientist Serhiy Taran writes on his Facebook page.

"The anti-Russian sanctions directly dependent on Russia’s implementation of the Minsk Agreements. Having realized the inevitability of economic disaster, the Kremlin will now demonstrate ‘the devotion to the cause of peace’. That’s why the Russian Minsk Group has been strengthened by ‘peace-loving’ – in terms of the Russian policy - Gryzlov, and that’s why the demonstrative arrival in Kyiv was needed (although modern means of communication make it optional). Russia still is not going to withdraw its troops, but poses as a ‘dove of peace’… Looks a sorry sight? But Russia has no much options left,” Taran writes.

Earlier, on January 11, Ukraine’s representative Leonid Kuchma met with Boris Gryzlov. During the meeting they discussed preparations for a sitting of the Trilateral Contact Group, which is to take place in Minsk on January 13.
