Poroshenko thanks Duda for support in prolonging sanctions against Russia

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has thanked Poland for backing the extension of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The invariable position of Poland was confirmed regarding the extension of sanctions for illegal occupation of Crimea and for the non-implementation of Minsk agreements. I hope that this decision will be taken this week at a meeting of the European Council,” Poroshenko said.

The Ukrainian President also thanked Poland for the support of Ukraine in the issue of introduction of a visa-free regime with the European Union. Poroshenko also noted that Poland is the leader among all of the EU countries on the amount of visas issued to Ukrainians.
