Akhmetov’s top manager wins mayor elections in Mariupol - media

On Tuesday night, Mariupol city election committee signed the protocol summarizing the election results in four districts of Mariupol, major seaport and industrial hub city in the Donetsk region.

"Most votes for Mariupol mayor were cast for an independent Vadym Boychenko. According to the final protocol, he got 88,093 votes," a statement said.

According to the website sources, the city council will see three parties - Opposition bloc, Power of People and Our Land. Petro Poroshenko Bloc received less than 5 percent of the vote.

As a background note, the independent Vadym Boychenko is a top manager of Mariupol Illich Metallurgical Plant that is part of Metinvest company owned by oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.
