U.S. Ambassador Pyatt praises nomination of anti-corruption prosecutor

The United States Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt has favorably evaluated the nomination of Nazar Kholodnytsky the chief of specialized anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.

The U.S. Ambassador tweeted.

"It was a very big day yesterday in Ukraine’s war against corruption. The appointment of a new anti-corruption prosecutor marks a historic opportunity," wrote the diplomat.

He stated that the government officials must be accountable to the people they serve, and there is " no room for corruption, cronyism."

Pyatt has also commented on the decision of MP Mykola Martynenko to step down.

"Mykola Martynenko’s decision to resign from the Rada, and submit to the rule of law is another sign of a changing Ukraine," he noted.
