British Ambassador says mission of DCFTA is real for Ukraine

The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Ukraine and the European Union will have positive results for the both sides that will become stronger due to the cooperation.

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Great Britain to Ukraine Judith Gough said at a round table meeting in Kyiv on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Yes, for Ukraine the mission is real. The DCFTA has been elaborated for a long time and I believe that what you have already achieved is rather significant,” she said.

At the same time, according to her, Ukraine should do a lot to use privileges of free trade with the European Union in full

In particular, she noted that a range of laws should be improved to carry out reform of taxation, customs, and state service. Gough also pointed out the fight against corruption that oppresses the progress in the country.

According to the British Ambassador, the European Union, and the Great Britain as well, are ready to support Ukraine in any possible ways.

“The DCFTA, the implementation of which begins on January1, is positive for Europe and Ukraine, and together we are really stronger,” Gough added.
