Poroshenko agreed with U.S. on supplies of defensive weapons to Ukraine

Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko has agreed with the U.S. authorities on supplies of defensive weapons to Ukraine.

The statement was released on the website of the President of Ukraine.

"During my visit to New York City, I agreed with the leadership of the United States to provide Ukraine with non-lethal weapons. These weapons include modern counter battery units. They make it possible at a distance of tens of kilometers from the front lines to detect the enemy battery firing locations with the highest accuracy, and destroy those batteries. This week the U.S. Congress, and also not without our efforts - approved the bill for providing significant financial resources in 2016 to supply military assistance to Ukraine," he said.

He also noted that in November the American partners will launch a unique multimillion training program for Ukrainian armed forces and special forces.
