Activists picket Russian embassy in Berlin demanding release of Ukrainian political prisoners

On Tuesday, the activists were picketing the Russian embassy in Berlin, demanding to release Ukrainian political prisoners, including Roman Sushchenko, Volodymyr Balukh, Oleg Sentsov and Oleksandr Kolchenko.

As an Ukrinform correspondent reports from Berlin, the rally was organized by German activist, a former GDR dissident Ronald Wendling. The rally participants demanded to release Ukrainian political prisoners, including Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko who was illegally detained in Moscow while making a private visit; filmmaker Oleg Sentsov and activist Oleksandr Kolchenko who were detained in Crimea for alleged plotting of terrorist acts; Crimean Tatars who now stand trial in the occupied Crimea; Crimean resident Volodymyr Balukh who was recently sentenced to 3 years and 7 months in prison for placing a Ukrainian flag in his yard.

At the same time, the activists held a rally dedicated to the anniversary of start of Russian-Georgian war, chanting "Hands off Georgia!"
