In absurd fake, Russian media “conceive” another “Biden” in Ukraine

Fact Check

Russian propaganda forged the birth certificate to claim a child born in Khmelnytskyi region was named “Biden.”

Russian online publications and Telegram channels are circulating a photo of a fake birth certificate. What is claimed to be a birth certificate for a child born in Khmelnytskyi region, Ukraine, shows his first name as “Biden,” allegedly in honor of the U.S. president.

According to the caption to the photo, Biden Valeriiyovych Kantsara was born on December 1, 2022, in the village of Zhenyshkivtsi, Vinkovetskyi district, Khmelnytskyi region.

This photo turned out to be fake. As of December 2022, there are only three districts in Khmelnytskyi region: Khmelnytskyi, Kamianets-Podilskyi, and Shepetivskyi.

After the reform of the administrative system, implemented in 2020, Vinkovetskyi district ceased to exist. In its place, the Vinkovetska community was created, of which the village of Zhenyshkivtsi is part. At the same time, this community is now part of the region’s Khmelnytskyi district.
