Russia officially cancels broadcast of Eurovision 2017

Russia’s Channel One will not broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 as its representative Yulia Samoilova was banned from entering the territory of Ukraine.

This is reported by the channel’s press service.

"Channel One refuses to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest 2017... April 13, the Channel One received a letter from the European Broadcasting Union stating that the EBU was unable to settle the problem. In their letter, the Eurovision organizers referred to the decision of Ukrainian special services," the message reads.

As reported, Security Service of Ukraine banned Russian citizen Yulia Samoilova from entering the territory of Ukraine for a period of three years due to her earlier visit to the annexed Crimea.
