Two killed, 25 injured as two buses collide in Odesa region

Two buses collided in the Odesa district on Tuesday, September 8, killing two women and injuring at least 25 people.

The Odesa regional police said this in a statement seen by Ukrinform.

Five children are among those injured.

Preliminarily, law enforcement officers established that the vehicles collided after one of the drivers entered the oncoming lane.

Investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning violation of road safety or vehicle operation rules by a person driving a vehicle when such a violation results in the deaths of several people.

Authorities are considering detaining and notifying the minibus driver, who, according to investigators, caused the road accident.

The investigation is ongoing. As part of the proceedings, a number of forensic examinations are planned to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
