Severe weather hits Ukraine leaving three killed, several injured
Severe weather in Ukraine has claimed three lives and left others injured, including a child. Emergency services are responding to the aftermath in 13 regions.
According to Ukrinform, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) has reported this on Facebook.
In Cherkasy a tree fell onto a moving quad bike, killing one person. Another man died in Zakarpattia after a tree collapsed.
In Poltava, a child was injured by a falling tree.
In Zaporizhzhia, strong wind gusts caused a tree to fall onto a passenger car carrying a 39-year-old man, who was killed.
Rescue teams have carried out 176 operations to cut and remove fallen trees and conduct recovery work. A total of 647 rescuers and 150 pieces of equipment have been deployed.
The SES urged citizens to be cautious, noting that emergency crews continue to operate in an intensified mode.
As reported, in Zhytomyr region strong winds also caused a tree to fall onto an ambulance.
