Truck overturns on Odesa–Reni highway, casualties and injuries reported

Traffic is restricted on the Odesa–Reni motorway near the village of Kozatske due to a road traffic accident. Preliminary reports indicate fatalities and injuries.

The State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development in the Odesa region reported this on its Facebook page, according to Ukrinform.

“A road traffic accident involving a heavy-duty vehicle and a passenger car occurred near the village of Kozatske, at km 64+500 of the M-15 Odesa–Reni (towards Bucharest) highway,” the statement reads.

A forensic investigation team from the territorial police unit, an ambulance crew, representatives of the contractor company, and the State Emergency Service are working at the scene.

The Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region noted that, according to preliminary information, there are fatalities and injured people. Law enforcement officers are regulating alternating traffic.

Police urged drivers to choose an alternative route through the village of Udobne in Odesa district, if possible.

As reported by Ukrinform, in the city of Balta, Odesa region, a drunk driver fleeing from a police patrol lost control of his car — the vehicle was thrown onto the sidewalk, where a woman with a baby stroller was walking.
