Four dead in car crash in Rivne region

The driver of an Audi, who was seriously injured in a collision on the morning of July 20, has died in the hospital, bringing the total death toll from the accident to four.

The crash occurred on the Horodyshche-Rivne-Starokostiantyniv highway near the village of Antonivka, in the Berezne territorial community, when a Volkswagen collided with the Audi, the Rivne Region Police reported via Telegram.

"Doctors at the Berezne District Hospital fought for seven hours to save the life of the 32-year-old Rivne resident who was injured in the crash. However, the injuries sustained by the Audi driver were fatal. He died in intensive care at 15:30," the statement said.

According to police, the driver and two passengers of the Volkswagen were killed instantly. The vehicle was driven by a 41-year-old resident of the village of Vitkovychi.

"As a result of the accident, the driver of the Volkswagen, his 45-year-old fellow villager, and a 42-year-old resident of Berezne died at the scene," police said.
