Three patients killed in Kosiv hospital fire

Three people were killed and one more died from COVID-19 after a fire broke out in the intensive care unit of the Kosiv Central District Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk region late on Tuesday, December 28, the National Police of Ukraine has said.

"It has been tentatively established that three people were killed in the fire, and another one died from coronavirus. All of those killed were hospital patients," the statement said.

In addition, three other people were injured in the blaze. They were admitted to the regional hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk.

Investigators are taking measures to establish the circumstances and causes of the fire.

A fire erupted on the ground floor of a four-storey building of the Kosiv Central District Hospital in the intensive care unit at 21:22 on December 28. Rescuers said two dead patients were found at the scene of the fire in the ward.
