Seven out of nine fires in Luhansk region under control, one contained

The rescue team has brought under control seven out of nine fires and contained one fire that broke out in Luhansk region on September 30, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reports.

“As of 10:00 on October 5, seven out of nine forest fires were eliminated, one fire was contained. Measures are being taken to extinguish the fire in the area of the village of Smolianynove. The situation is under control,” the ministry noted.

As reported, the police opened seven criminal proceedings on wildfires in Luhansk region. The investigation is considering four main versions, including shelling from a nearby area controlled by the invaders, a deliberate act of arson, spontaneous combustion of grass and forests due to weather conditions, and careless handling of fire.
