Government to allocate about UAH 700 million to overcome effects of extreme weather in western regions

Today, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will allocate about UAH 500 million to overcome the effects of extreme weather in western regions of Ukraine.

"The Government will allocate appropriate funds today. At the request of the regional state administration, the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine, the State Water Resources Agency of Ukraine, we will make a decision on allocating a significant amount of funds from the state reserve fund. This is about UAH 700 million for the needs of the regions and the additional funds for agencies that will eliminate the consequences of the flood," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at an extraordinary Cabinet’s meeting on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Shmyhal expressed his condolences to the families of those killed as a result of adverse weather conditions.

The Prime Minister noted that he personally and President Volodymyr Zelensky closely followed the situation. The Head of State plans working visits to the flood-hit regions.

As reported, Shmyhal paid a working visit to Ivano-Frankivsk region yesterday. There, the Head of Government coordinated the activities of the authorities and checked what measures were being taken to overcome the effects of extreme weather in western regions of Ukraine.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted that the situation in the flooded areas of western Ukraine was critical.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, heavy rains in recent days have complicated the flood situation in Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Lviv regions.
