All sources of fire put out in Chornobyl zone

As of April 26, all sources of fire were put out in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. The rescuers continue working on smoldering peatlands.

"I and Volodymyr Zelensky inspected elimination of fires in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. All sources of fire were put out. There is no threat. The rescuers are working on smoldering peatlands. The wave of fires is beaten back. I thank the rescuers and foresters for their work,” the Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov posted on Twitter.

The fires broke out in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone on April 4. According to Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management Kateryna Pavlova, 20,000 hectares of Chernobyl zone territories, of which 30% are forests, were affected by the fire.
