Fire at Odesa psychiatric hospital kills six

A fire that broke out on the roof of a psychiatric hospital in Odesa late on June 10 has killed six people, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has reported.

"A fire broke out on the roof of a single-story building of the municipal non-profit enterprise Odesa Regional Medical Center for Mental Health of Odesa Regional Council on an area of 500 square meters at 9 Akademika Vorobyova Street in the Suvorovsky district of Odesa at 21:44 on June 10. The fire was extinguished at 23:19," the report says.

It notes that State Emergency Service units rescued 15 people. Unfortunately, four of them died without coming to their senses. Six people with signs of poisoning with carbon monoxide were hospitalized, and two of them died at hospital.

In connection with this tragedy, President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman to immediately set up a state investigative commission.

The head of state wrote this on Twitter.

"The reasons will be established. My condolences to the loved ones of the victims," Zelensky wrote.
