Seven people die in road crashes in Ukraine every day

About 68,000 road traffic accidents happened in Ukraine in the first half of 2018, 10.2 percent less than the same period in 2017.

As first deputy chief of Ukrainian patrol police Oleksiy Beloshytsky posted on his Facebook page, almost 13 thousand people were injured in those accidents, of whom 1, 237 people died.

"It’s an average of seven people a day," Beloshytsky stressed.

He noted that speeding was the reason for 35% of the accidents, violation of maneuvering rules - 21%, violation of crossroad passage rules - 8%, violation of pedestrian crossing passage rules - 7%, non-observance of safe distance - 7%, other violations - 22%.

At the same time, Interior Ministry spokesman Artem Shevchenko wrote on Facebook that the number of road traffic accidents in the first half of 2018 was 10.2% less than the same period in 2017, number of victims in the accidents decreased by 16%.
