High avalanche risk still remains in Carpathians – State Emergency Service

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has issued warnings for mountainous areas in Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions, where a high avalanche danger is expected on January 6-8.

The State Emergency Service reported this with reference to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center’s forecasts.

“On January 6-8, a considerable (III) level of avalanche risk is expected in the Carpathian mountains,” the report reads.

As reported, in the western part of the country, on January 6-8, the water level is expected to increase in Prut and Siret rivers due to the thaw.
