State Emergency Service: 13 ha near Kalynivka left to be cleaned up from explosives

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has reported that only 13 hectares of the territory surrounding the ammunition depot near Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region, are left to be cleaned up from explosive devices.

This has been reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service.

“As of 7.20 a.m. on November 20, 30,387 hectares of the territory have been already cleaned up by the explosive ordnance disposal teams of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. A total of 13 hectares are still to be examined, 3,746 explosive devices have been detected and disposed. Some 501 applications from the population have been fulfilled,” the State Emergency Service reports.

As many as 727 people and 148 pieces of equipment are involved in cleaning up the aftermath of the emergency situation. In particular, among them there are 43 people and 16 pieces of equipment from the State Emergency Service.

As Ukrinform earlier reported, the fire broke out at the ammunition storage in Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region, on September 26. Almost 30,000 local citizens were evacuated from the dangerous area. Two people were injured in the incident. Explosions ceased on September 28.
