99 people drowned in Ukrainian waterways last week

Ninety-nine people drowned in Ukrainian waterways last week alone, according to a report by the State Service for Emergency Situations.

"The heat that lasted almost all over Ukraine last week has led not only to a sharp increase in the number of fires in natural ecosystems, but also had a significant effect on the statistics of those who drowned. We again record an impressive figure: 99 citizens were killed in the country's waterways from July 31 to August 6," the report says.

According to the service, 685 people, including 70 children, have already drowned in the country's seas, lakes and rivers since the beginning of the year. At the same time, 484 people, including 106 children, have been rescued.
