Firefighters put out fire at Kharkiv textile factory for several hours

Fire at the textile factory located in Kharkiv city that raged for many hours in the morning has been liquidated.

Assistant chief of the state service for emergencies in the Kharkiv region, Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Lupandin told Ukrinform.

"Fire was reported in the former textile factory "Red Thread", which houses now a number of private textile enterprises, began at 23.54. The fire originated on the third floor of the production and warehouse building. At the time of rescuers arrival the fire engulfed the premises on the second floor of the building, where the finished products were stored: blankets, as well as flammable textile waste materials. The burning area reached 200 square meters but no victims were reported," Lupandin said.

According to him, rescuers’ actions were complicated by the fact that the burning of synthetic materials was accompanied by the release of dangerous fumes and heat.
