Servant of the People nominates strongman Virastyuk for MP

The Servant of the People party has nominated Ukrainian strongman Vasyl Virastyuk as a candidate for MP in the by-elections to the Verkhovna Rada in constituency No. 87, deputy head of the Servant of the People faction Yevhenia Kravchuk has said.

"The Servant of the People party has just nominated Vasyl Virastyuk as a candidate for people's deputy of Ukraine in the by-elections in constituency No. 87 in Ivano-Frankivsk region," she wrote on her Facebook page.

Kravchuk recalled that Virastyuk is a famous athlete and actor who was born and grew up in Ivano-Frankivsk.

"Everyone probably knows him as the world's strongest man. Vasyl Virastyuk heads the coaching staff of Invictus Games: Team Ukraine and is engaged in the rehabilitation of war veterans. And now he wants to help them at the state level," she said.

The Central Election Commission scheduled by-elections to the Ukrainian parliament in constituencies No. 87 and No. 50 for March 28, 2021.

The submission of documents to the CEC for registration of candidates will last until February 25 inclusive.

Elections in constituency No. 87 will be held as Servant of the People MP Zinovii Andriiovych terminated his duties due to his election as Nadvirna mayor.
