President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and his wife have come to the Independence Square in Kyiv, where the rally "Protect Ukraine" is taking place.

“It is not a choice between Zelensky and Poroshenko. We all are aware of the real stake at these elections: whether our country will continue its path towards the EU and NATO, or everything will be put on the back burner. Another extremely important question is whether Ukrainians will allow revenge to happen, whether we will be able to resist the Kremlin’s attempts to conquer Ukraine again and make it a part or a satellite of the Russian Empire," Petro Poroshenko said at the rally, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Despite the fact that Putin has a much larger military budget and Russia has much more resources, I guarantee you that if I am elected on April 21, Putin will suffer a defeat here in Ukraine in the next five years,” Poroshenko said.

The choice is not between two candidates, he noted. The real stake in this election is Ukraine since Russia dreams of an inexperienced president, who will allow the Kremlin getting Ukraine under control.

“We respect the choice of other people and we in no way consider our opponent to be an agent of the Kremlin. But we are confident that Putin dreams of a novice president, who will allow the Kremlin getting Ukraine under control,” Poroshenko said.

The rally "Protect Ukraine!" has started in support of incumbent President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko as a candidate for the post of the Head of State in the Independence Square in Kyiv.
