Zelensky ahead of Poroshenko in run-off – Rating poll

Some 52% of Ukrainians will vote for showman and presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky and 19% for incumbent head of state Petro Poroshenko in the second round of presidential elections in Ukraine, according to a survey conducted by the Rating Sociological Group on April 12-16, 2019 and released on the group's website on Thursday.

The survey shows that 19% were undecided, and 10% do not intend to vote at all.

At the same time, the poll shows, among those who intend to vote in the second round, 58% are planning to support Zelensky, 22% Poroshenko, and 20% are undecided. Among those who intend to go to the polls and have already decided on their choice, 73% are planning to vote for Zelensky and 27% for Poroshenko.

According to the poll, Zelensky is ahead of his competitor in all age categories. He gets basic support among residents of the eastern, southern and central regions of the country. At the same time, the positions of both candidates in the west are almost equal.

Some 62% of those polled believe that Zelensky will be the next president of Ukraine, 17% think that this will be Poroshenko, and 22% could not answer.

According to the poll, half of the respondents believe that the new team of the Ukrainian president should be given at least a year to show positive results. Despite this, a quarter of respondents want to see achievements in six months, 14% want to see them in three months, and 8% are waiting for immediate changes.

Some 3,000 respondents were interviewed during the survey. The survey was conducted through a face-to-face interview. The margin of error does not exceed 1.8%.
