Presidential election: 39 candidates in ballot

The public statements, which have been made by certain presidential candidates in recent days, do not entail any legal consequences, and the changes to the ballots will no longer be made.

"The Commission emphasizes that the public statements, which have been made by the candidates regarding their refusal to run for the President of Ukraine, do not entail any legal consequences," reads the statement posted on the website of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine.

The CEC reminded that it takes a decision on canceling the registration of a presidential candidate if they appeal at any time after registration, but no later than 23 days before the election day, with a written appeal about the refusal.

Thus, the deadline for submitting such appeals to the Central Election Commission of Ukraine expired on March 7.

"So, as of March 29, 2019, the Central Election Commission registered 39 presidential candidates included in a ballot paper for the scheduled presidential elections in Ukraine for voting on the election day on March 31, 2019, who remain subjects of the electoral process," the CEC stressed.

The presidential election in Ukraine will be held on March 31.
