General Staff of Armed Forces: 93 special polling stations created for military

The Central Election Commission of Ukraine (CEC) has created 93 special polling stations for the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told this to Ukrinform following information request from the agency.

“In general, there will be 93 stations for the servicepersons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including 79 in the area of the Joint Forces Operation,” reads the document.

It is noted that one special polling station for the military will operate in the training center and one will be established in the disciplinary battalion. Also, two polling stations will operate abroad in the locations of peacekeeping contingents and 10 polling stations will be open at military medical establishments of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine.

The General Staff also said that following a motion submitted by the Defense Ministry in accordance with Article 20 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Election of the President of Ukraine”, 79 special polling stations were created in the territories of military units (formations) in the area of the Joint Forces Operation. In particular, 14 polling stations were established in Luhansk region and 65 polling stations in Donetsk region.

As reported, the presidential election campaign started on December 31, 2018. On February 8, the CEC completed the process of registration for the post of head of state in Ukraine's presidential election. A total of 44 presidential candidates were registered. Five candidates later withdrew from presidential race.
