Over 82% of Ukrainians ready to vote in presidential election - poll

More than 82% of Ukrainians are ready to vote in the presidential election on March 31, 2019.

It is evidenced by the results of the poll, which were represented at a press conference by Olha Balakireva, Board Chairperson of the Ukrainian Institute for Social Research named after Oleksandr Yaremenko, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“At present, the declared percentage of readiness [to vote in elections] has not significantly changed since January and totals 82-83%," she said.

In particular, according to the results of the conducted survey, 44.8% of those polled said they would definitely vote in the presidential election and 35.6% said they would rather vote.

Sociologists also recalled that according to the results of the poll carried out in December 2018, 77.4% said they would vote in the presidential election, in January 2019 - 81.1%, in February 2019 - 80.3%.

"In general, the percentage of those who intend to go to the polls is very high. But I want to recall that this is the declared percentage and we, sociologists, expect that the real percentage of activity and the proportion of those who vote in elections will fluctuate approximately between 60% and 65%," Balakireva stressed.

Also, Balakireva said that the top three leaders of the presidential rating are Volodymyr Zelensky, Yulia Tymoshenko and Petro Poroshenko, adding that Zelensky holds the first place in the ranking, while the gap between Poroshenko and Tymoshenko is within the statistical margin of error.

The poll was conducted on March 11-18, 2019 by the Ukrainian Institute for Social Research named after Oleksandr Yaremenko. A total of 2,047 respondents were interviewed in all the regions of Ukraine (except for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions). The statistical error is 2.2%.
