About UAH 2.4 bln envisaged in draft state budget for presidential elections - CEC

The draft state budget for 2019 envisages more than UAH 2.354 billion for the preparations and holding of the forthcoming presidential elections in Ukraine.

Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Yevhen Radchenko stated this at a press conference on November 13, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The total amount of funds foreseen so far in the [draft] state budget for 2019 for the presidential elections is UAH 2 billion 354 million 880 thousand," he said.

According to him, about UAH 1.5 billion of these funds are projected for the first round and UAH 848 million for the second.

In turn, CEC secretary Natalia Bernatska noted that the Commission also expects the second reading of the bill on redistribution of expenditures not used at local elections to be spent on cyber security measures.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada on September 20 elected 14 new members of the Central Election Commission, which took the oath of commission members on October 5.

The next regular presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for March 2019 and parliamentary elections will take place in October 2019.
