Zelensky hopes EUR 90B European support package will launch in early June

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed hope that the European support package worth EUR 90 billion will become operational no later than the beginning of June, with the first tranche allocated to drone production.

The head of state made the statement during his address at the Bucharest Nine summit, according to Ukrinform.

"We are counting on the European support package worth EUR 90 billion to become operational no later than the beginning of June," Zelensky said.

According to him, the first part of the funding will be directed specifically toward the production of critically needed drones.

On April 23, the Council of the European Union approved a EUR 90 billion financial assistance package for Ukraine for 2026-2027. The amendment to the EU's long-term financial framework removed the final legal obstacle to granting the loan to Ukraine. The loan is expected to become a key instrument for ensuring macroeconomic stability and supporting critical infrastructure.
