Zelensky on €90B EU loan: No grounds for blocking it anymore

Ukraine has fulfilled all requirements to unlock €90 billion in support from the European Union.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his evening video address, Ukrinform reports.

He noted that he had held talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, European Council President António Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen regarding the unblocking of financial support for Ukraine.

“It is essential that the European support package for Ukraine – €90 billion over two years – be unblocked. These funds had already been approved by the European Council, but were blocked. There can be no grounds for blocking it anymore. The EU asked Ukraine to repair the Druzhba oil pipeline, which had been destroyed by Russia. We have repaired it. We hope the EU will also deliver on the agreed commitments,” Zelensky said.

He added that there has been no recent progress on new sanctions against Russia over its war against Ukraine.

The President stressed that sanctions must be maintained so that the Russians do not feel they can wage war calmly and with impunity.
