Two frontline regions of Ukraine are without power due to Russian attacks on energy facilities
As of March 12, Russian attacks have left users in the Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions without power.
According to Ukrinform, NPC Ukrenergo reported this on Facebook.
"As a result of enemy attacks on energy facilities in frontline regions, users in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions are without power as of this morning. Where security conditions currently allow, emergency repair work is already underway. Energy companies are doing everything possible to restore power to all customers as quickly as possible," the statement said.
Due to the consequences of previous massive attacks on the energy sector, from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., power restrictions for industry and hourly blackouts for other user categories are expected in all regions.
As of 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, electricity consumption is 2.3% higher than yesterday. Ukrenergo advises adjusting consumption to account for weather conditions. In particular, it recommends shifting the use of powerful appliances to the hours when solar power plants are most efficient, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“During the period of mandatory hourly power cuts, please limit the use of powerful electrical appliances and do not turn on several such appliances at the same time,” the company added.
As reported, Ukraine plans to restore about 4 GW of generation capacity damaged by the Russians; a new energy infrastructure security architecture will also be deployed.
